A sensor is a device that detects and responds to some type of input from the physical environment. The specific input could be light, heat, motion, moisture, pressure, or any one of a great number of other environmental phenomena. Sensors are not just a new phenomenon as variations of these technologies have been around for years but with the expansion of wifi, the availability of cheaper devices and societies acceptance to such technologies we are now facing the ‘perfect storm’ for growth. This assessment aims to encourage your understanding what the many opportunities and challenges are going to be as more and more sensor start to be embedded into business environments.
You are asked to write a literature review to provide a theoretical understanding of sensor technologies (you can choose one sector, or one product, or take a general overview of the connected world), then create an academic poster to demonstrate a practical understanding of sensor (the same topic areas as the literature review):
1. Write a literature review to critically discuss the challenges and opportunities that sensors will introduce to business (1500 word limit with a 10%–•/+) a. You are asked to carry out a systematic literature review of your chosen sensor topic area.
