A sensor is a device that detects and responds to some type of input from the physical environment. The specific input could be light, heat, motion, moisture, pressure,   or    any          one           of   a   great          number  of   other       environmental phenomena. Sensors are not just a new phenomenon as variations of these technologies have  been  around  for  years   but  with  the   expansion   of  wifi, the          availability      of cheaper devices and societies acceptance to such technologies    we   are   now   facing   the   ‘perfect   storm’   for  growth.             This assessment                    aims to encourage your understanding what the  many opportunities and challenges are going to be  as more and more sensor start to  be embedded into business environments.

You are asked to write a literature review  to  provide  a  theoretical  understanding of sensor technologies (you can choose one sector, or one product,  or  take  a  general  overview  of  the  connected  world),   then  create an academic poster to demonstrate a practical understanding of sensor  (the same topic areas as the literature review):

1.         Write a literature review to critically discuss  the  challenges  and opportunities that sensors will introduce to business (1500 word limit with a  10%–•/+)

a.         You are asked to carry out a systematic literature review of your chosen   sensor                                               topic    area.   Your   purpose                                                  is to discover relevant,   peer–•reviewed,   academic   research   articles   on   your chosen sensor topic area

b.         Introduce your sensor topic area and construct a balanced

authors’ views on an issue, highlight areas in  which  authors are in disagreement you can group authors who draw similar conclusions, offer a criticism on aspects of methodology. Then highlight exemplary studies and or gaps in research (50%)

2.         Create  a well–•designed digital academic poster or an  Infographic  linking to your chosen sensor topic area that includes:

a.         Background of your sensor topic area

b.         Consequences of your sensor topic area

c.         Make recommendations how society might harness the benefits

or mitigate the negatives. (40%)

3.         Reflection on learning and practice throughout the module. (300 word limit with  a 10%–•/+)

a.         Focus on one area of learning or  practice  and  use  Gibbs Reflective Cycle to frame your discussion. Please add this to the   end of your literature review (10%)

The attached Grading Criteria will be used to assess your  work,  please familiarise your self with the different levels. Additionally ensure that  you  read and meet the stated expectations that  have  been  listed  in  the  assignment  task list.
