The theoretical foundation is important because it will be the lens through which you evaluate your research problem and research questions. Yes It is a true statement because at the end of the research study, the information you might have gathered must be able to be the solutions to the problem you were trying to solve in the first place. Remember those problems were the ones that made you conduct the research study and if the solutions are not able to solve the problem, then you might wasted a lot of energy and resources hence not impacting the community in any way and the problem will still remain there.

First and foremost, you should identify and describe your selected theory or theories. This information should consist of the author(s) of the theory and details regarding the original study, such as the population, purpose, and results. Providing this information will help you to highlight why the theory you have selected is valid for use in your study, and will make it easier for you to demonstrate how the theory relates to your own study.

Why should the theory or model be used for your intended study?

I would prefer conceptual model because this model is able to show all the stages you will have to go through for you to achieve the final goal. It has the main principles where you have to clearly explain what is the purpose of the research study, the significance, the questions to answer and what problem you will be addressing. Also, this model will give you a chance to engage with the fundamentals i.e actual activities that will take place to the actualization of the intended study, the methods and resources to be used and how to interpret what you have acquired so as to build up your case. Last but not least there is the basics of the phenomenon where now from what you have studied yo can make your own conclusions and recommendations towards solving the problems you intended to solve.
