• Poster submission should be in the format of an A1 poster printed out and brought along to the Research Day Forum.
o Display option and font size is down to individual students

- Deploy accurately established techniques of analysis and enquiry within a discipline.
- Apply the methods and techniques that they have learnt to review, consolidate, extend and apply their knowledge and understanding, and to initiate and carry out projects
Intended Learning Outcomes covered by this assessment:
Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the following:
• Research and assess facts, theories, paradigms, principles and concepts in a chosen subject area
• Identify a research problem, appropriate research design and methods of data collection and analysis
• Propose a research study
• Plan, design, execute and communicate through writing and presenting an independent research project and its findings
• Critically interpret data and text in a chosen subject area
• Develop a reasoned argument and challenge assumptions in relation to the results and research undertaken
• Undertake fieldwork with due regard for ethics, safety and risk assessment
Background information:
You are required to undertake a piece of research on a selected topic of your choice, whereby you are expected to design, carry out and analyse the findings and write this up in the form of a Thesis. This will include; an abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion and conclusion section. You should also include an acknowledgements section and appendices.
Tasks:
To undertake research and to submit a 5000 words for quantitative and 6000 words for qualitative research project in the format of a dissertation thesis.

Abstract: Need to produce a concise abstract of no more than 300 words, including all key points required for a comprehensive overview of the project. Scientific writing style should be adopted. Key words should be identified. 3rd person past tense should be adopted at all times.
- Introduction: This section needs to be a critical reflection of relevant past literature on the same topic as your research title. You need to include critical analysis of journal articles in the form of a literature review. Harvard referencing must be adhered to throughout.
- Methodology: You need to state information about the participants used, the exact protocol undertaken and what statistical analysis will be conducted. This needs to adhere to structured guidelines.
- Results: Need to present the findings of your study in the appropriate format for example, graphs and tables. You need to link your statistical outputs into this section. Presentation guidelines must be adhered to.
Please discuss including this section with your supervisor. Some qualitative research projects do not need to include a results section as they combine their results with the discussion.
- Discussion: This needs to a detailed explanation as to what you found and why you found it. You must critically analyse your work in relation to past literature. Harvard referencing must be adhered to throughout.
- Academic Style: You must write your coursework in an appropriate academic style.
