Individual effort in getting things done as assigned was one of my strengths in my MBA program. My team performance weakness was a leadership role. I came to realize that my leadership role in the project was below the level required by my team members. As a result, I can improve my leadership through practicing discipline which is the main phase of leadership. Ideally, a good leader requires to be disciplined so that team members can abide by the directions and rules which are deemed to be positive. Also, I can improve my leadership role through training on leadership skills. As a finance director, I was able to handle a variety of roles which was to create a conducive atmosphere for the team members and overseeing the quality management of the entire business prospects. Ideally, I took part in creating financial decisions which were to improve the strategic development goals of the organization. Attendance to group meetings was one of the strengths which my team members embraced as working as a group. This means that a problem cannot be solved if there is less attendance of members in a certain meeting. While the majority of the organization has prospered due to the availability during group projects, we were able to be present at any specified period. Attending group meetings enables us to solve and identify underlying problems affecting a given domain. The attendance allowed us to know each other weaknesses and strengths thus working towards uplifting each other. Ideally, the proximity of working together and building a strong organization relationship equipped us with strong working knowledge.

Leadership was one of the main reasons that can alter the performance of any rising organization. Ideally, the majority of my team members could not lead others and understand their different backgrounds. According toGrosser& Baumol (2017), the sustainable growth of any organization depends on leadership and discipline. Any leader who lacks discipline will not be able to inspire other team members. Notably, we did not emphasize much on developing situational awareness of members and how they understand strategy segments. As a result, we were not able to practice essential leadership skills in managing our daily operations and guidance concerning work development. Moreover, almost every team member thought their opinion is always right and no one could disclaim their answer. Perhaps it is the reason that led to poor performance in the aspect of solving problems during teamwork projects. Therefore, leadership skills play’s a crucial part in solving problems and leading others in a precise direction.

A team contract is supposed to give guidelines and rules for teams to make appropriate decisions. Ideally, a team contract enables a team to figure out or have a clue how they will operate their set goals and accomplishing it. Furthermore, most of the team contract entails the responsibilities of team members, roles, and specific tasks which are defined in a set of documents (Grosser & Baumol, 2017). As a result, the team contract is monitored by the entire team due to the code of conduct that should be adhered to. The significance of a team contract is to keep team members informed about the daily operation that is responsible for developing the synergy of success. Perhaps it contains the communication aspect which is vital to any prosperous group aiming to avoid any leadership or misunderstanding problems. For instance, the MBA Capstone contract of a given institution has a predefined set of objectives and a list of team members who are responsible for accomplishing a given task. This means that the team contract will have names of team members and a specific role to achieve diversity of opinions. Also, this team will be responsible for keeping each discussion on track and facilitating discussion to safeguard group interest on a matter relevant to strategy development. To sum up, the value of the team contract goes beyond achieving cooperation and understanding. Therefore, they provide a basic knowledge of understanding each team member’s role and creating a feasible goal in achieving a set of strategies.

Based on the business strategy compiled by one of our team members, we assigned one member to briefly describe the main objectives of the topic related to the business strategies. The meeting took place online where the marketing director of our team contract took the podium to elaborate on the business strategy. Unfortunately, the team member was not audible, and the communication skills portrayed was poor. Consequently, the speech impacted the entire team negatively since it portrays the image of our organization. Ever since we have registered with a quite different organization that trains individuals on presentation and communication skills. We decided to register thrice a month for the entire team to be eloquent and audible during a presentation in a large audience. Later, we requested for a session to illustrate and explain the marketing strategy to the investors. Surprisingly, the team members were audible enough and used all the gestures needed during conveying detail information to high-profile investors. Intuitively, the decision of training our team members improved not only communication skills but also how to solve problems through analytical skills gained.

For any team seeking to work for the simulation, they should work as a team and assign each team member responsible roles to avoid any conflict of interest. According toMeneghel et al. (2016), teamwork enables members to work in a holistic environment that is full of the opportunity of understanding and policy to accomplish any task. A self-directed team can achieve a massive milestone when having a set of objectives and powerful strategies. Also, they should ensure that any decisions implemented should be supported by two-thirds of the members if not the whole team. According toKniffin & Hanks (2018), democracy is vital in reaching an amicable solution between two opposing sides. Ideally, not all group members can be on the same side of the coin but having a set of regulations to govern each team contract should be maximized at any cost. Any professional development that is conducted by a team should aim at achieving factual decisions full of support from the team members (Koh et al., 2018). While we know business, simulation requires the utmost support of each member, a team should be united to deliver a cohesive derivative. Similarly, the derivatives are deemed significant in maintaining a holistic understanding of the business simulation and strategies on a global scale.

Working as part of the team in doing Capsim, enable me to realize that teamwork is relevant to have an overview of how other departments operate. Ideally, each member has a specific role to participate while doing the business simulation. This means that one department cannot operate without the presence of a certain member. For the simulation to take place, we had to work as a team by making a central decision and supporting each other. This means we had to come up with goals and objectives towards setting ideal strategies to remain competitive in the business world. The simulation enabled individuals to make realistic decisions and organized their work towards providing a fundamental business concept that is entangled in each department. For instance, there is no way a finance department can work without getting decisions from the quality management department on how to control the project’s funds. As a result, teamwork is an economic variable that integrates the team towards achieving more accurate targets and professional developments. Another aspect is the existence of central commonality which is proven useful through peer group and development goals.
