A number of channels have not restricted the age limit from which certain programs should be watched and this access by teenagers to the programs and other sex videos leads to immature sexual development. Low self esteem in girls, watching other women show off how perfectly-shaped their bodies are, also raises curiosity and would want to try everything, including sexual activities to improve their looks (Carolyn 2006).

Sexual advances and early exposure to sexual arouse especially in girls puts them at risks of fast-development of their sexual needs. Many older boys, who are usually more cheeky and mischievous, would seduce younger girls into sexual immorality. Girls therefore girls are more vulnerable to bad sexual exposure, especially in boarding schools, before they even had the chance to naturally develop into the practice on their own. Older males also contribute because they have the desire to have sexual affairs with young and unsuspicious girls who have no idea of the risks involved with sexual activities. There have also been cases where teachers take advantage of their female students, pretend to have extra classes and private tuition, only to abuse them sexually. There are always raising figures in the number of rape cases in the society every day, where older men take advantage of weak and vulnerable young girls, forcing them to have sex.

A family structure also plays a significant role in the growing number of sexual abuse and unwanted pregnancies. This is especially in cases where an alcoholic father turns abusive on his daughter and forces himself on her under the influence, leading to pregnancies that were unplanned for. Young girls have also fallen prey to such atrocities when they have a step-father raising them, or when they have sore relationships with this kind of parents. They are placed at the most susceptible environment because they would at one point or another be left alone and in the care of abusive older people. It is always riskier for very young girls and who are just hitting maturity because they have not had sexual experiences and would not know how to react or whether to report such incidences. They are usually threatened by the rapists and this would make them keep it to themselves until it is too late to deal with pregnancies or any sexually transmitted diseases. Some of them would not even know what they ought to do because they have never gone through the ordeal (Carolyn 2006).

Due to ignorance, many parents do not teach their children how to relate with others and who to watch out for. Girls mature too fast and before their parents have the chance to get them down ad advise them, they already know too much. Some parents spend much time working away from home and this puts their daughters at risk. Opportunists would grab such chances to lure young unsuspecting girls to their sexual advances. They would have all the time to expose them to sexual practices during their parents’ absence, teaching them new ideas and making sure they do not sound wrong. This lack of education in girls exposes them to the dangers as they would not have had the chance to learn about what is wrong or right, and when to say yes or no. It is also self-destructing because young and sexually active girls would take this freedom for their evil activities, not knowing the dangers that lay ahead (Carolyn 2006).

Sex education in schools is therefore a very urgent, an important subject and tool for the healthy and mature growth of teenagers. Parents should take the initiative of reducing the time their children spend watching the television and screen some irrelevant channels. The program should be introduced at earlier stages of the teenage bracket to allow children to adjust and get used to the subject. No child should be treated as too young to the issue as long as they have passed the upper primary/junior class in school. It gives children different perspectives on how to react to their body changes, what to do and what not to. The dangers and problems brought about by sexual relationships should be outlined and discussed openly with students and upholding of facts by teachers should be avoided. Teenagers should not be restricted unreasonably to their boundaries, but be allowed to justify their acts and understand why they are punished.

Because this subject is very sensitive and touches a key age in the development of teenagers, there should be a general approach on it, with younger children introduced to it, although would later be broken into details for teenagers who relate to the issues. Parents should also take part in sessions involving sex, starting from their homes and giving teachers information on how their children behave at home. Guidance and counseling sessions should not be optional but every student be taken under the lessons, sharing ideas and open to the rest. Students should be offered a chance to express their needs and identify problems within their classes and in how they relate with others. It is very important for teachers and parents to let teenagers feel free to talk about their feelings and open up about their relationships. This platform is the key to addressing the subject of sex, making sure the youth know that parents and teachers went through the changes and problems, and more importantly understand what they go through. With this approach, sexual activities among teenagers, although not completely done away with, would be much controlled and they youth would learn to take control of their lives.
