I believe gay marriages should be legalized because human love should not be just between a man and a woman. The love shared between two people should not be a controversial thing if two people love each other. It should not be nay different if the love is between a man and a man or a woman to woman. Love is a natural feeling, and it should not be restricted. Everyone should be permitted to love anyone they want without being judged or discriminated.
Every constitution offers the freedom as the first right to every individual. Everyone has the right to their freedom according to the constitution. Freedom is a fundamental right in each and every establishment. If one ones to get married to someone who is of the same-sex then, the constitution gives them the freedom to do so. Gay marriages are under the protection of the commitment in the constitution to equality and liberty. Gay marriages should be on the same level as other marriages since the gay people have a right to choose who they marry.
Marriage is not a social privilege, but a human right. Everyone has the right to whoever they choose to marry and hence the society should not dictate. Marriage should on the basis of a person’s free will, and people have a right to decide whoever they would like to marry. They should have the same civil right as others including the right to get married to the person they choose. Love is something beautiful, and those who believe in it should be allowed to enjoy. Everyone deserves the right and the chance of being with whoever they want to love. They should also be allowed to commit to whoever they want if they are in love.
For a long time now the accepted form of marriage has been between a man and a woman..However, this has changed in the present times as different forms of family arrangements have emerged such as polygamy and communal child-rearing. The traditional concept of marriage no longer exists as the different forms of family are slowly being accepted. Gay marriages should be accepted because denying same-sex couples the right to get legally married is a form of stigmatization to the lesbian and gay families. It sends an inferior message that it is okay to discriminate against gay couples.
We should also examine some of the reasons why gay marriages should not be legalized. Within the marriage institution, a couple is expected to bear and raise children. However, people of the same sex are not able to reproduce and hence they can not have children. Legalizing same-sex marriages will lead to the weakening of the marriage institution. There will be no continuity and no childbearing if gay marriages are made legal. Gay marriages could lead to the couple adopting children. Gay couples could also go for a surrogate mother to have a child for them. Though a gay couple ends having a child the households with gay parents are not an optimum environment for children to grow because a child requires a mother and a father when growing up.
Many religious groups in the United States take marriage to be between a woman and a man. It means that religious marriages rites can only be done between a man and a woman. However, in our country civil law marriage is defended as the legal right to protection, and the religious leaders are accustomed to performing marriages only because the state has given them that authority. It means that it is not a must for a gay marriage to be presided over by religious leaders. Gay marriage can be carried out under the civil law and be legalized.
Let us look at it this way is it fair for a person to live in the shadows and not being able to feel free. The issue of legalizing gay marriages should not be such a controversial issue. Gay couples should have the right to live, get married legally and raise children just like everyone else.
