”1.) Please refer to Mary’s Fertility Case Study below;Mary was a young nurse looking for a new place to work after her recent move to a small suburban community. She relocated to look after her ill mother. Since Mary was an only child and her mother had no other family, she felt it only right to pick up her life and move closer to her mother. After weeks of searching, she was able to secure a position with Dr. H’s practice. Dr. H was a physician who opened his own practices a few months earlier. Dr. H. specialized in fertility treatments and worked to provide hopeful couples with the opportunity to start a family.Mary was really enjoying working with the patients, her fellow nurses and other members of the office staff. The staff was small and the local community was as well, so everyone felt like family. Over the span of several months, Mary noticed the patient load was decreasing significantly. Dr. H mentioned a frivolous rumor was the reason for the patient load decrease. One day while walking outside of his office, Mary overheard Dr. H telling someone that he was at risk of professional sanctions because some of his patients were accusing him of using his own sperm during several of his procedures. Not knowing that Mary was outside of his door, he admitted intentionally using his own sperm for just a few of the cases, and only when he discovered some of the men had lower sperm counts. He felt this would provide his patients with the children they wanted and no one would be the wiser. As she attempted to leave, Dr. H discovered Mary and confronted her. He told her that if she mentioned this to anyone, he would tell his colleagues not to hire her and she would risk being unemployed for quite some time.Mary was afraid of losing her current job and any potential future employment opportunities, so she assured Dr. H that she would not tell anyone what she just heard. Uneasy about her decision, two weeks later, Mary placed an anonymous call to the state licensing board to report Dr. H, but by week’s end, Mary learned that Dr. H had moved to another state with his family.2.)
