Descriptive Statics
Our pilot group consisted of six females and three males, their age range was 32-70. The sampling for our questionnaire was a nonprobability sampling of convenience. We ask people we know that were taking opioids for our questionnaire.
On the question how do you feel with your pain medication? We had seven who stated that were pain was relieved, two who answered sometimes or pain goes down to a tolerable level.
Two of our group have been on their pain medication for greater than five years. Three have been on for three years. Two have been on pain medications about a year and a half.
In our group five out of the nine had to take their pain medication daily. The others could take their pain medication as needed.
About the question; if you missed a dose, how do you respond? Seven stated that they would take it as soon as possible. Two would turn to alcohol if they were out of pain medication.
Only one answered the question, would you call yourself as addict, with a yes. All stated that they could tell the difference if they missed a dose. We cannot make a valid inference on how our study would work in a larger group. We would have to draw from larger group using a random selection and possible come up with more specific question about opioids and that relationship to addiction.
