Aside from the requirements listed above, you may formulate your paper in any way you
see fit.
You may not spend more than one page summarizing the film. A major goal of this
assignment is to relate the film to your textbook. Therefore, in addition to using the film
as a source, you must use The Cultural Landscape when constructing your paper. You
are also required to use at least one supplemental source (peer-reviewed academic
journals, primary documents, books by authoritative experts, etc.) to support the
arguments you set out to make in your paper. Be sure to properly cite any source you
us___e. All citations must conform to a professionally recognized citation system (most of
my students use MLA formatting and style). Utilizing your sources, you will spend the
rest of the paper offering your own analysis of the film and explain whether or not you
believe the film fully understands and accurately represents the complexities of the topic
it portrays.
In addition to submitting your assignment on Friday, October 24, you will present your
paper to the class for three minutes. You may not simply read your paper. Since time is
limited, there is no need for visual aids. Other than the aforementioned stipulations, feel
free to present your findings in any way you see fit.
This assignment is worth a total of 150 possible points (out of 1000 possible points for
the course). An “A” assignment will consist of a paper that follows directions, has a
strong argument, ties the film with your textbook and any other source utilized, and
clearly reflects your understanding of world cultural geography. You should thoroughly
and clearly explain your analysis of the film and whether or not you believe the film
portrays the themes associated with world cultural geography objectively. If you have
