Purpose

The purpose of the Course Project is to give the student the opportunity to apply lessons in transcultural nursing by conducting a transcultural nursing assessment. The purpose of Milestone 3is to conduct an interview as part of a transcultural nursing assessment, and conduct a process recording in written, audio, or video format.

Course Outcomes

The completion of the Course Projectenables the student to meet the following Course Outcomes.

CO #1:Identify theories, concepts, and beliefs related to transcultural nursing. (PO#1)

CO #2:Communicate effectively with culturally diverse individuals, families, and organizations. (PO #3)

CO #3:Perform a culturallycompetent nursing assessment. (PO#7)

Points

The entire project is worth 600 points. Milestone 3 is worth 300 points of this total.

You are to submityour completed NR391Milestone 3: Process Recording of Interview to the Dropbox bySunday, 11:59 p.m. MT,at the end of Week 6.

Requirements and Guidelines

1. Review the Course Outcomes for this assignment, which are listed above.

2. Schedule a time to meet with the interviewee to conduct a face-to-face interview. You may not conduct the interview by phone call, e-mail or by asking the interviewee to fill in a form. You must be able to understand your interviewee. An interpreter is not allowed.

3. Do not conduct the interview prior to Week 5 in order to receive feedback from your instructor regarding Milestone 2: Interview Guide and Questions prior to meeting. This will allow you time to make adjustments in your questions if needed. If the interviewee’s schedule requires that you conduct the interview prior to Week 5, consult with your instructor regarding early submission of Milestone 2 to ensure that you receive timely feedback before the interview occurs.

4. Decide on the format of your process recording—written, audio, or video. The process recording must be able to be attached to the Milestone 3 Dropbox and opened by the instructor for review. If you are using any format other than MS Word2010, upload a test recording to the Dropbox immediately after you receive feedback on your Interview Questions,or at least 2 weeks prior to the due date. Let your instructor know that you have done this. This will give the instructor an opportunity to download and see if the file can be opened successfully. The test could be a short (1 minute) recording stating your name and the purpose of the test. Your instructor will e-mail you to confirm or deny the ability to open the attachment. NOTE: Instructors are not able to provide advice or technical support regarding recordings. Also, submission of an audio or video recording is NOT required. If you elect to submit your interview in any other format, for example, jump drive, CD, or DVD, please ask your instructor for his or her personal snail mail address. Note that the jump drive, CD, or DVD must arrive in time to allow for grading. Consult with your instructor first. You are allowed to submit a written process recording using MS Word. This is what most students elect to do.

5. Conduct the interview in a professional manner.

6. Submit the completed process recording of the interview to the Milestone 3 Dropbox by the Sunday of Week 6 at11:59 p.m. MT. If submitting an audio or video file, the length of the interview should be no more than 20 minutes. If submitting a written process recording, the length should be no more than five to six typed, double-spaced pages of the interview transcript.
