The purpose of this assignment is for you to assess a diet recall. Keep a copy of your completed work just in case there is a problem with the submission. This assignment is worth 10% of your final grade.
Instructions:
- Analyze your 24-hour recall (or any one-day food record) using the Cronometer app. Directions for using this site are in the document: “How to use Cronometer to analyze your diet” attached at the back of this assignment.
- Get a screen shot of your data as shown below. All foods, targets, general, carbohydrates, lipids, total protein, vitamins and minerals must be included.

Examine the data from your Cronometer diet assessment and answer these questions.
- According to the results, are you in energy surplus or energy deficit or close to energy balance?

How to use Cronometer to analyze your diet
Go to https://cronometer.com/, to analyze a diet and see if what is eaten (foods) is providing appropriate nutrition (nutrients like proteins, vitamins, minerals, and others).
First, create an account.
Once your account is activated, add foods by clicking the little apple.
A menu will open, type in (one by one) the foods that were eaten.
For example, I had yogurt. Once I type in that, I can choose from the list in the database. These databases are pretty complete, but not perfect. If someone ate a food that is not in the database, pick something similar.
Be careful of serving sizes/amounts.
Keep adding all the foods that were eaten. For example, I entered a breakfast one day:
If you need to edit or delete an entry, right click on the food.
When all of the foods have been entered, get a screen shot of all data (use snipping tool). You will use this data to complete assignments. Plus, this will give you a rough idea about what nutrients you/your client usually get or don’t get (but a one-day record is not enough time to get a truly accurate idea, it’s just a general sense).
