Linda works as a nurse in an assisted living facility for aging adults, and has been consistently late to work, or absent on two or more days per week for the past month. During her interview with the social worker at the EAP, she states that her absenteeism is due to problems she is having at home. She states she has been married to Steve, also 46, for 25 years, and they three daughters together, ages 23, 20, and 16. She claims that Steve is physically and emotionally abusive towards her, due to the stress of his job, his drinking, and their recent financial problems. Linda states that living with Steve has caused her to feel anxious and worried all the time. She has considered leaving, but states she does not have enough money, and has nowhere to go. She stated that she also suspects Steve is having an affair, which is causing her to be so upset she is having daily headaches and vomiting.
