The Affordable Care Act, which is also commonly known as Obama Care, is a renowned US statute that was introduced into law by the United States’ president. This Act has increasingly become the most important regulatory tool in United States’ healthcare system particularly following the introduction of Medicare as well as the Medicaid systems (Richard, 2011). The Act was particularly enacted with the sole intention of enhancing the affordability of medical cover while significantly reducing the cost of uninsured medical coverage in private and public systems. It thus introduced various mechanisms that included mandates and subsidies that would promote affordability of medical cover (Dipika, 2014).
