- Find a best practice sheet from JBI (Johanna Briggs Institute) or Cochrane database related to a patient you have taken care of this semester (I am doing the topic of pressure ulcers and how they are prevented by turning the patient every two hours)
- The best practice needs to be relevant to my patient. I got a patient who is mentally not there and she has a lot pressure ulcers, some of them are Stage 4. They are on all of her bony prominences (Tail bone, elbows, heels, shoulders, under her butt cheek). The nurses there do not turn her at all. I will modify the paper with more detail but you can just mention shear neglect of not turning her.
- Identify the key components of the best practice guidelines and evaluate if appropriate nursing interventions were implemented for the patient (Obviously all of these did not happen for my patient so you can mention that). Describe how the nursing interventions followed best practice guidelines or not follow guidelines and the patient’s overall response.
- Evaluate how you provided care to this patient and how the knowledge gained will impact your professional nursing practice. (I turned my patient every two hours with the use of pillows and support wedges)
